WORKSHOPS AND GROUP COACHING
I am happy to customize a workshop for your particular group’s needs and interests. Please contact me to discuss design and rates.
Sample topics:

  • Open Session – bring your challenge-at-hand to the group conversation and we will take each one on, learning new techniques as we go.
  • Guiding by Starlight – an introduction to Martha Beck’s unique coaching techniques and utilization of the first two tools:  My Body Compass and Knowing What I’ve Got.
  • Monkey Brain No More – learn how to identify and quiet the stream of thoughts that clutter your mental and creative space.  Use the Ladder of Awareness to learn how to transform those thoughts into actions that bring you the results in life you want.
  • Joyful Single Parenting whether You’re Married or Not – practical and creative tips, tools and techniques to bring more joy into your parenting role – for you and for your children.
  • Your Leadership Story – every leader is telling a story about what he or she values.  Are you telling your story on purpose?  The most powerful leaders I know are powerful because of their way of being in the world.  I believe that strength rests in their ability to be self-aware in the moment.  This workshop cultivates that ability regardless of what position you are in or what company you work for.
  • Happily Ever After…the rest of the story – the principles to creating strong, lasting, loving, fun-filled relationships.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is coaching a form of therapy?  Life coaching is meant to challenge, uplift and support you psychologically, however, it is not psychotherapy.  Coaching work is meant to be undertaken when major emotional and psychological wounds are already healing or healed.

How long does coaching last? Every client is different, however I recommend weekly sessions for a minimum of 3 months to begin with. It is my experience that within 3-6 months most of my clients are happily settled into their new direction and are now ready to transition to monthly sessions or as needed.

Who benefits from a life coach? Anyone can benefit from a sounding board and artful guide.  However, like anything, what you put in is what you get out.  You will receive the greatest benefit if you come to coaching with an open mind, a brave spirit and the willingness to change.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY INVESTMENT OF TIME, ENERGY AND MONEY IN COACHING?
Expect to:

  • Know what you are feeling and how that translates to a guidance system for decisions.
  • Know what you are knowing and how that translates to the confidence to make changes.
  • Be able to say what you mean and be heard the way you mean to be heard.
  • Have a deep and sustainable connection to that part of yourself that is essential to your well-being.
  • Know where you are currently and where you want to go.

Beside our coaching calls, what other tools are available to me?

  • In addition to our regular coaching sessions you will have access to me via email between sessions.
  • inStream Coaching Companion tools found on the Tools page.

Are you a certified life coach?Yes. I am a Master Certified Coach by Martha Beck Inc. and I am currently a candidate at the University of Pennsylvania for a Master of Applied Positive Psychology.

How do I choose a coach?  The right coach for you is subjective so do your research!  The International Coaching Federation recommends talking to three prospective coaches and requesting two or more references from each.  Most coaches will offer a complimentary session – use that time to ask a few questions and be coached on a real problem.
In addition I would recommend that you find out as much as you can about what’s out there:  check out other Martha Beck Certified Coaches at www.marthabeck.com,  Google “life coach” and research other models, check out the suggested reading list for more resources and when you’re ready (or if you have specific questions) please contact me.

Will I see progress in every session?  While coaching sessions often yield the initial insight, the real progress and “ah-ha” moment often comes between sessions.

Does phone coaching really work?  The short answer is, yes.  Coaching by phone allows flexibility, convenience and the privilege of being coached in the private setting of your choice.  It also allows me to coach clients all around the world.  I can also hear, through tone and inflection in your voice, the things that you are not saying.

Are our coaching sessions confidential?  Everything we discuss, including our coaching relationship, is 100% confidential.  A Confidentiality Agreement will be signed and exchanged prior to our first session.
